Sotheby’s Wine London is delighted to present our first sale of the year, Bordeaux Greats | Finest & Rarest Wines, featuring a dazzling variety of clarets representing many iconic vintages, a selection of top Domaines from Burgundy, and other vinous icons from around the world.

The sale opens with a showstopping collection of ultra-rare, vertical releases from Bordeaux greatest names, starting with a complete set of First Growths, through the overperforming ‘Super Seconds’, and several Right Bank Châteaux including a very rare 1939 Cheval Blanc (2018 Mahler Besse bottling) and verticals of Angélus and Pavie. Rhône lovers will be delighted to find a vertical of Chapoutier’s Côte Rôtie, La Mordorée, among other gems from the region. The collection concludes with a stunning choice of Californian Cabernets from superstar producers such as Dominus, Schrader and Paul Hobbs.

We then travel back to Bordeaux, through a collection composed in its entirety of large formats, from Magnums to monumental Imperials. Starring all the First Growths, Le Pin, Petrus and Yquem plus a range of ‘Super Seconds’, rarely offered in such depth and perfect for large celebrations. This consignment was sourced from a very well regarded Continental wine merchant, recently removed from high-quality temperature controlled, professional storage.

Burgundy followers will be pleased with an offering from another leading British private collector, featuring Burgundy’s most lauded Domaines such as Rousseau, Roumier and Leflaive, alongside gems from the likes of Colin-Morey, Fourrier, and Dancer.

Other highlights include:- The iconic 2000 Ch. Haut Brion with flawless provenance.- An assortment of ‘Super Seconds’ ranging from the 1950s to the early 2000s, offered Duty Paid.- A stunning array of Italian greats from the likes of Ornellaia, Sassicaia and Bruno Giacosa, all Duty Paid.- A meticulously assembled vertical of Domaine de la Grange des Pères.

The cellars offered here represent a lifetime of dedicated work on the part of these longstanding, steadfast collectors and are offered with brilliant provenance.

Bordeaux Greats | Finest & Rarest Wines will open for online bidding on 1st March at 2pm GMT, culminating in an online-only auction on 15th March at 10am GMT.
