Agora Gallery is pleased to announce The Mind’s Eye, a collection of abstract and figurative paintings that explore tangible reality through the filter of imagination. The artists in this exhibition take disparate approaches to the subject of interpretation, ranging from pure manipulations of form to depictions of psychological experiences or reflections on cultural identity. Minimalist geometric arrangements, evocative of urban environments, become universal symbols that unleash unexpected memories and associations. Highly contrasting patterns, composed with mathematical precision, generate optical illusions that distort the viewer’s perception of motion and space. At the same time, intimate sensations come to the surface. A young woman curls up on the ground, trying to push back the insults and profanities written all around her. Oneiric landscapes haunted by ghost-like entities accompany intuitive expressions of psychic journeys. More importantly, imagination can be a powerful catalyst for change, where boundaries collapse and prejudice vanishes. Lost in the bliss of a marine oasis a woman floats serenely above the ocean water, her world in ever perfect harmony.
