Initiated in November 2012 by Paris Photo and the Aperture Foundation, the PhotoBook Awards celebrate the photobook’s contribution to the evolving narrative of photography. Three awards will be presented on Friday, November 10 at Paris Photo: First PhotoBook, PhotoBook of the Year, and Photographic Catalogue of the Year. •THE FIRST PHOTOBOOK PRIZEA $10,000 prize is awarded to the photographer(s)/ artist(s) whose first finished, publicly available photobook is judged by a jury of photography professionals to be the best of the year.
THE PHOTOBOOK OF THE YEAR PRIZEThis prize is awarded to the photographer(s)/artist(s), and publisher responsible, for the photobook judged to be the best of the year by a jury of photography professionals.v THE PHOTOGRAPHY CATALOGUE OF THE YEAR PRIZEAwarded to the publication, publisher, and/or organizing institution responsible for the exhibition catalogue or museum publication judged by a jury of photography professionals to be the best of the year. The shortlisted books, accompanied by the jury’s comments, will appear online and in a special take-away catalogue, released at Paris Photo. The shortlisted books are exhibited at Paris Photo and subsequently featured in an international touring exhibition
The shortlist will be announced on October 10.
