HighlightsThis year Bernheimer-Colnaghi (Munich/London) will be showing Old Man with a Beard and a Brown Coat by Jan Lievens, one of the most talented artists in Rembrandt’s circle. This splendid ‘tronie’ or character study was painted around 1631, immediately before Lievens went to work at the English court.

Rossi & Rossi (London) are bringing a spectacular Tibetan statue that was one of the highlights at the recent Bronze exhibition in the Royal Academy of Arts in London. The eleven-headed Avalokitèshvara dates from around 1400 and is 120 cm tall. It is the largest known early Tibetan bronze statue of this Buddhist deity.

HighlightsThomas Heneage Art Books (London) has the guest book from Lüchow’s restaurant in Manhattan. Covering the period 1950-1963, it contains contributions by such famous people as Fred Astaire, Humphrey Bogart, Groucho Marx and Richard Nixon, who later became US president. The Duke of Windsor, formerly King Edward VIII, simply wrote ‘Edward’ in the book.

Gagosian Gallery (London) will exhibit this 2010 Pluto and Proserpina by Jeff Koons. Since his emergence in the 1980s Koons has blended the concerns and methods of Pop, Conceptual, and appropriation art with craft-making and popular culture to create his own unique iconography, often controversial and always engaging. © Jeff Koons/courtesy Gagosian Gallery.
