London, 14 November 2018: To help celebrate Mickey Mouse’s forthcoming 90th anniversary, Sotheby’s will display seven rarely seen limited-edition vintage Mickey Mouse film posters at ‘Mickey’s UK Art Collective Exhibition’. The exhibition, mounted by Disney, is set to showcase brand new Mickey-inspired works, and will take place this weekend (16 -18 November) at The Black and White Building exhibition space in Shoreditch. Four of the posters date to the 1930s, whilst the others were created in the 1940s and 1950s, charting the early days of Mickey Mouse’s existence.

With this selection of rare vintage film posters, the auction house will offer fans a nostalgic look back at the life and legacy of Mickey Mouse. Spanning the first half of the 20th century and dating as far back as Mickey’s eighth birthday (1936), the posters have rarely been exhibited in public and, in many instances, count among the few surviving examples still in existence. Following the public exhibition, the works will be offered in an exclusive online auction running from 16 -26 November.

The vintage film posters will be on show alongside 12 established and emerging UK-based artists, including Jimmy C, Michael Bosanko, Ashton Attzs, and Pal Kumar, who will all be exhibiting their own works inspired by 90 years of Mickey Mouse.
