The Rijksmuseum welcomed nearly 2.5 million visitors in the last year – a new record. No fewer than 100,000 of the children were on a school visit. In its opening year in 2013, the museum attracted more than 2.2 million visitors.

Wim Pijbes, Rijksmuseum General Director: At 350,000, the record number of children visiting the museum makes me feel especially positive about the future.

Opening of the Philips Wing Two major reasons for the increased visitor numbers were the Calder exhibition in the gardens and the opening exhibition Modern Times. Photography in the 20th Century, which can be seen in the Philips Wing until 11 January 2015.
