Sotheby’s will hold a media preview for both sales on the morning of Monday, 26 November. Cameras will be welcome as of 8:00am, with a specialist available for interviews as of 9:00am.

On 29 November, just a month before the 50th anniversary of Apollo 8 – the first mission to orbit the moon – Sotheby’s will hold our second-annual Space Exploration sale, which in turn follow our groundbreaking Russian Space History sales in 1993 and 1996. The auction features a wide variety of material from both the American and Soviet space programs — from flown mission artefacts and hardware, lunar and space photography, original artwork by artists such as Chesley Bonestell and Alan Bean, items from the personal collections of astronauts, autographed items, maps and charts, signed books, models, spacesuits, and more.

In the year of the centenary of his birth, our second annual History of Science & Technology auction on 30 November will be headlined by the Nobel Prize, papers and books of the brilliant, inspiring, and much-beloved theoretical physicist Richard P. Feynman. Spanning the full length of his career – from his early days at Los Alamos and Cornell through his final days at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and covering topics such as the atom bomb, QED, Nanotechnology and Computing – the remarkable and enlightening collection of papers are the only known archive of Feynman manuscripts to exist outside of the archive at Caltech, where he taught for nearly 4 decades. The sale also features books & manuscripts, scientific & technological instruments, original artwork, and other artifacts spanning from the 16th–21st centuries, in categories ranging from physics, mathematics, and cryptography, to medicine, biology, computing, and astronomy.
