„I am physical, I am emotional and I need to connect with the tangible world. I am in love with texture and physical material. I like a painting‘s touch and the smell of an object. I love to feel paper with my hands and to run my fingers over wet paint“ - Veronika Suschnig wrote these words in summer 2021 when she began to figure out how to tell the story of her work and the feelings within: The search for a new emotional materiality is essential for my artistic practice. Human impulses and feelings are taken up, being abstracted and made tangible. She looks for surfaces that get under the skin and for human emotions within material. She understands texture as an abstraction that can make the tension of human condition tangible. Her works and installations always grow into the space, in order to touch the viewer deeply.
