We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by Rebecca Horn, opening as part of Berlin Art Week this September. With the exhibition Concert of Sighs, we are presenting an expansive installation by Rebecca Horn from 1997 along with painterly and more recent sculptural works, which complement the exhibition and exemplify Horn's work of the last 25 years. Created for the Venice Biennale, the work Concert of Sighs combines visual and acoustic elements to create a haunting image of destruction made of broken stones, concrete fragments and wooden slats, from which curved copper pipes with funnels sprout like plants. The work fits into Horn's extensive oeuvre, breaking down the boundaries between different artistic disciplines and creating a deep emotional resonance.

REBECCA HORNHAUS DER KUNST, MUNICH26 APRIL TO 13 OCTOBER 2024EXHIBITION CATALOGUE OUT NOWWith more than half of Rebecca Horn's retrospective exhibition at Haus der Kunst now completed, the show continues to captivate audiences with its evocative and thought-provoking works. Spanning six decades, Rebecca Horn’s transmedia life’s work blurs the boundaries between nature and culture, technology and biology, the human and the non-human. The artist can be described as an inventor, director, author, composer, or poet – but Horn considers herself first and foremost as a choreographer. She describes her practice as precise work with space, light, physicality, sound, and rhythm. Through her work, she seeks to create a physically experiential presence of a visible, tangible, and audible existence. The book accompanying the retrospective Rebecca Horn traces the performative aspect that characterises the artist’s oeuvre from its beginnings to her most recent works.
